"Chatting w/ L's" Interview Pule (cont.)

2L's: There are many people around the world who need to get more familar with Pule. First off, for those who dont know you, give me some info about yourself.

Pule:My name is Pule, and yes that is my official government name. I'm South African, so no it's not ghetto or anything. It actually means "rain".
Between the ages of three and fifteen, I resided in Atlanta, GA where my mother, older brother, younger sister, and I pretty much moved around the city. Under certain circumstances, we relocated to Nashville, TN in the middle of my high school career seeking better financial conditions.
After high school, I attended the University of Miami, but I wasn't able to complete my education there due to a sudden illness my first semester.
In the winter of 2004 I was diagnosed with Cancer, and was hospitalized for 8 consecutive months. I was blessed and fortunate enough to overcome my sickness so I re-enrolled about a year later. The fact that Vanderbilt Hospital was treating me with my chemotherapy, I decided to finish up college close to home at Middle Tennessee State University. I can say I've had quite a few experiences that have drawn me towards the music I make, and I make it a habit to reveal these things to you in my lyrics.. There is much more to know about me, so please stay tuned and I can fill you in.

2L's: When did you first start rapping and who were your influences?

Pule: I got a Karaoke machine Christmas of 1994, and at at the time I would perform Michael Jackson (Jackson 5), Sam Cooke, The Tempations, The O'Jays, and other big acts of the Motown Era. It wasn't until 1996 or so that I started trying to create my own Hip-Hop lyrics. I would say along with the soul music that has influenced me, rappers like Hammer, B.I.G, Pac, Jay-Z, OutKast, and DMX steered me more towards Hip-Hop.

2L's: What sets Pule aside from other rappers in the industry?
Pule: Truth sets me apart from a great majority of rappers doing it now. The best music comes out when you are genuine about it. Also, I have a creative edge over many modern day rappers, and that's evident through my song writing. Oh yeah, that fact that I'm more intellectual than alot of these morons helps, lol. Word play is key in the hip-hop game, because more than likely, we've heard it before. So I try to say it differently.

2L's: What influenced the mixtape Dollas & Sense? Whats the significance of the name?

Pule: I didn't want to do PuLe vs. Pule type deal, so in order to express a variety of different kind of songs, I categorized them into DoLLars & Sense.
For Example: DOLLARS would be songs that I don't exactly intend for people to learn anything by listening to, and I would rather just have them dance and vibe off of. I enjoy making songs like this because honestly, it's fun as hell. For instance, my song "Mr. Peppermint" is an autotuned song on the mixtape that I had a ball recording. Even though it's still lyrical, it was like a party in the booth for me, and having fun is a big part of good music. The SENSE side of the mixtape includes songs like "Dollars & Sense", "Poverty's Paradise", and "Tomorrow" where I am giving you factual events and genuine thoughts about me and my life that are easily relatable. So it made alot of "sense" to combine both these aspects. "Dollars & Sense" is actually a mixtape series that I'm doing, so be prepared for that.

2L's: Who all have you worked with so far?

Pule: I've worked with quite a few talented independent artists such as, P.A.T, Skewby, Stix Izza, Young Hirsch, Soul Fresh, just to name a few. As far as producers, my first few "in house" producers were my homie Hot Rod, Craig-Mac, and my Atlanta producer Chef C. I have a few new producers that blessed me with tracks on this project that I plan on working closer with such as WEB, a producer from Memphis, TN, and a young lady named Blackberry. Both are DOPE.

2L's: What is your opinion about rap beef such as what is going on with JayZ and Beanie?

Pule: I wouldn't necessarily consider that "Beef" between the two. If Beanz was really trying to get at Jay, he wouldn't have made that disclaimer at the end of track stating that he still got love for him, and that the track wasn't a green light for other rappers to try and get at Jay. They're friends and they haver a misunderstanding that can easily be cleaned up thru conversation. Jay can't come back at that.. he has no need to. In plus, Beanie goes in on Rap beef .. if he really wanted to press some buttons, I believe they would've be PRESSED, lol.

2L's: There is alot of work that comes with being in the music industry. What keeps you going?

Pule: Me and my company mates were discussing this a couple nights ago. Perserverence in this game is mandatory.. without that you Lose! To become a truly successful hip-hop artist, you have to take big risks.. and it's not easy, period. But I feel with those big risks, come great gains. I'm in Atlanta, GA, where 5 rappers are always within 50 feet of you at all times, lol. The difference between me and them is, I'm actually good, and I'm going to express that through my music until everybody feels the same... or at least almost everybody.

2L's: What can we expect out of Pule and PypeDreamzMusic in the future?
Honest to good music!! I was and am still a BiG fan of Hip-Hop, and I still know what sounds good. So what I create will be judged by the same criteria.

2L's: What can we expect from the mixtape Dollas & Sense?
Uhh.. Basically, I'm here. Pype Dreamz Muzic is here! It hasn't been a week yet, and I've received praise and comments from multiple people stating that it's the real Deal. I'm appreciative, and I'ma bust they ass again on volume 2!!

2L's: Anything else you would like my viewers to know?

Pule: Pype Dreamz was created on the thought that people sometimes dream within a box... and we encourage to dream bigger than dreams! Regardless of what "they" may say, with the hard work and talent behind it, you can conceive it... And quite frankly, if you dream small, why Dream at all??
