"Chatting with Ls" Mac Miller

2Ls: When did you first start your rapping career and who were your
influences?

MAC:I started rapping when i was really young just for fun. When I was nine i had an OutKast CD and i used to take the cd insert out play the cd and try to rap as fast as i could reading the lyrics to keep up. When i was in 9th grade i started freestyling all the time. I fell in love with hip hop instantly and by sophomore year i was ready to dedicate my life to the music. My BIGGEST influence was Big L. When i first started rapping on a serious tip that's all i was listening to.

2Ls: How do you feel about the adversity that has overtaken the rap industry?

MAC:It's rough. Everything is a lot more challenging now. No one is taking any risks with their money. Although it makes everything a lot more difficult there are also some upsides. People are grinding like never before and coming with styles all across the board. Everyone is trying to do something new and its creating a variety of different sub genres of hip hop.

2Ls: Who have you worked with so far?

MAC:My "who i worked with" column is still growing. But, ive worked with Wiz Khalifa, Boaz, DJ Haze, DJ Capcom, DJ Diggz, DJ Rated R, Skyzoo, John Record, Big Jerm, Johnny Juliano, Soul Theory, Young Scolla, Jimmie Hoffa, Max B, The CommonWealth Family etc. and ive shared the stage with Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy, Big Sean, DJ Unk, Wiz Khalifa, as well as hundreds of local rappers around pittsburgh.

2Ls: Who do you hope to work with in the future?

MAC:I really want to expand my music by working with a mixture of veteran hip hop legends and people creating new sounds. On a production side, id love to work wit Swizz Beats, Pete Rock, The Neptunes, Ryan Leslie, and the Justice League, on a collaberation side, there are SOO many rappers and musicians i would LOVE to work with, if i had to pick a couple i'd probably say Cassidy, The Cool Kids, Andre 3000, John Legend, Drake, and Termanology.

2Ls: Who is your favorite artist out right now and why?

MAC:I don't even have a true answer for that. I listen to everybody so
it's hard to pick ONE favorite. I'd have to say i'm really fuckin wit Jada's
album and what he's doin. Maybe its cuz i was at the club last night and still
got that Who's Real stuck in my head.

2Ls: What do you feel you can bring to the music industry?

MAC:At the age of 17 im putting myself out as a lyricist.
Everyone knows i can spit, but that aint enough for me. I'm looking to expand
into my own genre of hip hop and change the game as we know it. I can bring
versatility into the industry, and i'm open to try everything, i'm always ready
to build.

2Ls: What can we expect from you in the future?

MAC: You can expect good quality music and good entertainment forever. As far as
musicwise...a lot of big collabs and out of the box songs. Right now i have The Jukebox out for free download (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ONFML9EO)
i'm working on a couple things this summer that lead up to the street album, The
Class Clown that is dropping on October 30th.

2Ls: Anything else you want the viewers to know?
